Your Wednesday morning dose of New York Mets and MLB news, notes, and links.

Meet the Mets

Yoenis Cespedes led the way at the plate and in the field in the Mets’ 5-3 victory over Cincinnati. After hitting a go-ahead home run off Michael Lorenzen in the seventh inning, Cespedes uncorked a brilliant throw to retire Brandon Phillips on the basepaths. Curtis Granderson, Jose Reyes, and Alejandro De Aza all went deep, and Josh Smoker picked up his second major league win as the Mets have now defeated the Reds in 13 straight encounters.

Gavin Cecchini is ecstatic after receiving his first major league call-up.
