Mets Morning News: Dave Eiland out as pitching coach, Mets drop opener against Cubs

Walker Lockett against the Cubs did not go well. After being given the lead, it all fell apart in the third inning. The Cubs scored six runs to take the lead and never looked back. The outcome wasn’t totally unexpected as the Mets continue their downward spiral down the standings.

Before the game, pitching coach Dave Eiland and bullpen coach Chuck Hernandez were both relieved of their duties. Phil Regan and Ricky Bones will serve as their replacements for the time being.

Regan is a well-traveled coach who has been around the game for quite some time.
