Brandon Nimmo, the happiest man in baseball, sent everyone home happy with a pinch-hit, three-run home run in the bottom of the tenth to give the Mets the victory. Jacob deGrom was once again brilliant through eight shutout innings, but it was Robert Gsellman who picked up the win and the Mets end up splitting the series with the Phillies.
Brandon Nimmo’s walk-off home run was the first of his career and it was a good sign for him since he had been struggling.
Jacob deGrom’s minuscule ERA shrunk even lower to put him in the company of some Met greats, but the lack of support has him in some regrettable company was well.
