Mets’ minors reload starts with Cyclones

Modal Trigger

Former Mets great Edgardo Alfonzo is the manager of the Brooklyn Cyclones.

While the Mets of the present are floundering in Queens, the Mets of the future may better whet the appetite of anyone looking for optimism. Though the organization’s farm system generally ranks among the lowest in baseball, that could start to change after this month’s draft — and multiple draftees will get their starts Friday night, as the Single-A Brooklyn Cyclones open their season against the Staten Island Yankees at Richmond County Bank Ballpark.

The Bombers’ Single-A affiliate has yet to release its roster and won’t until game time, a spokesperson for the organization told The Post.
