SAN FRANCISCO — Michael Cuddyer’s day off Thursday could include a visit to the Hospital for Special Surgery to get his left knee examined.
The Mets outfielder was absent from the starting lineup Wednesday for the sixth time in eight games as he continues to deal with soreness, a week after receiving a cortisone shot for swelling.
“He had the shot and felt pretty good,” manager Terry Collins said. “What’s happened, kind of the middle of the game, fifth or sixth inning, it starts to bother him and at the end of the game it’s swelled up a little, so we’ll have him looked at again.
