JUPITER, Fla. — Michael Conforto launched a pitch 400-plus feet off the clubhouse behind the right-field fence at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium for two runs in the first inning, his biggest hit Saturday in terms of length and impact.
Two innings later, his grounder through the left side was celebrated as something just as significant for the Mets.
Against the shift, with a runner at second base and two outs, Conforto changed his approach and hit a groundball RBI single to left field against Marlins pitcher Sandy Alcantara.
