Mets, Mejia go through salary arbitration motions

The Mets went through the salary arbitration motions on Tuesday with suspended pitcher Jenrry Mejia.

According to the Associated Press, the Mets and Mejia agreed on a one-year, $1,967,000 deal; the maximum 20 percent decrease allowed by the CBA from his salary last season.

Mejia will not be paid any of that money after receiving a lifetime ban from baseball for violating MLB's drug policy for a third time last February.

Next month, Mejia can apply for reinstatement to Commissioner Rob Manfred. If he were to win his appeal, he would not be eligible to play until the 2018 season.
