New York Mets starter Steven Matz allowed eight runs in the first inning against the Philadelphia Phillies on Tuesday without recording an out, a feat performed only five other times since 1893.
In the space of 20 minutes, Matz's ERA shot up from 1.96 to 4.96.
The left-hander threw 31 pitches, faced eight batters and allowed six earned runs on four hits, including two home runs.
