Mets right-handed pitcher Matt Harvey had a blood clot in his bladder, but he has been cleared to return to action and is on track to pitch Opening Night in Kansas City on April 3.
“It started with a bladder infection and it created a blood clot in the bladder,” Harvey said on Tuesday. “I passed it yesterday. It wasn’t a great first day [after] my 27th birthday. But we cleared that. And then we had a little procedure done this morning just to go in and check the bladder and everything was clear.”
On Monday, Harvey had been scratched from Tuesday’s start and it was announced that he wouldn’t pitch for the remainder of Spring Training.
