CINCINNATI — There were a lot of things that benefitted the Mets’ cause Monday, on a night when they needed every happy harbinger available to them.
There was the second pitch of the night, for instance, which Michael Conforto slammed the other way and snuck just inside the left-field foul pole for a home run, a 1-0 lead, and a hint that maybe Conforto’s early-season funk is nearing a merciful end.
“That, as much as anything, set things right for us,” said Adrian Gonzalez, who would add two home runs of his own before the night was through.
