After a week at the Winter Meetings chock full of J.T. Realmuto rumors, we are finally hearing murmurs of something different on the catching front. Andy Martino of SNY reports that the Mets’ catching situation is “moving closer to resolution” and that he is hearing a lot about their interest in Yasmani Grandal, which is “very serious.”
This doesn’t necessarily mean that they’ve closed the door on Realmuto, however. The Mets remain interested, but as the Winter Meetings drew to a close, talks with the Marlins about Realmuto appeared to have stalled, with the asking price remaining high.
