Mets LHP Jason Vargas limited the Orioles to two runs in five innings on Tuesday night during the Mets' 2-1 loss to the Orioles at Citi Field.
It was a rough start for Vargas, who gave up an RBI double to Manny Machado and a sacrifice fly by Danny Valencia in the first inning.
But Vargas would go on to pitch four scoreless innings, retiring 12 of the final 13 batters he faced.
It marked a second consecutive quality start for the 35-year-old Vargas after he pitched five scoreless innings against the Braves on May 30.
