Have no fear about Saturday night, Amazins — Rusty’s got your back.
Former Met and current team ambassador Rusty Staub said he’s been encouraged by his beloved ball club’s performance in the postseason and thinks they can take the National League Championship from the Chicago Cubs.
“I am hopeful,” Staub told the News Saturday as he recovered from a heart attack earlier this month. “It’s been a great thing for the team to make this incredible comeback this season, but when they beat the Dodgers — that was a big deal.”
Yet Staub doesn’t think pitcher Matt Harvey should just phone it in when he takes the mound at CitiField Saturday night.
