Bill Webb, the legendary lead television director for Mets games since 1979, passed away Tuesday night.
Webb, 65, worked 17 World Series over the course of his career and is a member of the Sports Broadcasting Hall of Fame.
SNY released the following statement regarding Webb's passing:
"Today we lost an industry icon and a member of the SNY family with the passing of Bill Webb. Bill was instrumental in establishing SNY's Mets telecasts as the premier local broadcast in Major League Baseball, bringing unmatched talent, leadership and a national sensibility to our live game coverage.
