The Mets found their catcher, and it didn’t cost them Noah Syndergaard.
The Mets agreed to a deal with free-agent catcher Wilson Ramos on Sunday, The Post’s Ken Davidoff confirmed. The Athletic reported the contract, pending a physical, is for two years.
The 31-year-old was an All-Star last season, which he split between Tampa and Philadelphia. He finished the season with a combined .306/.358/.487 slash line with 15 home runs and 70 RBIs.
This would seem to eliminate the Mets from the J.T. Realmuto chase, as the Marlins have dangled their star catcher. They also will not be signing Yasmani Grandal, as Ramos and Travis d’Arnaud will enter the season as their catchers.
