Mets lack Keller instinct, drop series finale

In what started out as a pitchers’ duel turned into an ugly loss for the Mets, who finish off their road trip with a 8-2 loss to the Pirates.

Mitch Keller and Christian Scott each came out throwing strikes and making short work of their opponents. Keller struck out the side in the first and worked around singles in the second and third without incident. Scott didn’t have as many strikeouts as Keller, but was perfect through three.

The Mets’ best chance to score early came in the fourth when Mark Vientos had an extra-base hit taken away from him when Jack Suwinski grabbed a fly ball just over the top of the wall in right-center field.
