Mets keep Thor penciled in for next start

Noah Syndergaard will make his next start on schedule Monday against the Nationals, the Mets announced on Thursday.

The hard-throwing right-hander was taken out of his start Wednesday against the Royals after six innings after experiencing right elbow discomfort. He was examined at the New York Hospital for Special Surgery, where tests showed no structural damage. Mets team orthopedist Dr. David Altchek prescribed Syndergaard anti-inflammatories.

Syndergaard has dominated this year, with a 2.08 ERA in 14 starts and one relief appearance and 110 strikeouts. He was previously examined when he experienced elbow discomfort after a game in the beginning of May but did not miss a start.
