The Mets and Juan Soto have agreed to a record-breaking fifteen-year, $765 million contract, per Jon Heyman. The deal doesn’t have any deferred money and includes an opt-out after the fifth year, per Joel Sherman.
Soto spent the 2024 season with the Yankees and had the best year of his career, as he hit .288/.419/.569 with 41 home runs and a 180 wRC+. Even with lackluster defensive numbers, he was worth 8.1 fWAR and 7.9 bWAR. Having turned 26 in late October, he figures to spend at least a few more years in his prime.
