Mets infielder Jose Reyes has a Grade 1 intercostal strain and was sent to the hospital to be examined, manager Terry Collins said after Tuesday’s doubleheader against the Cardinals.
Reyes suffered the injury while swinging the bat during Game 1 of the doubleheader, Collins noted.
Collins said Reyes would be out for “a couple” of days and that Wilmer Flores would play third base in his absence.
Reyes has hit .239/.278/.493 with three home runs and eight RBIs in 16 games (67 at-bats) for the Mets since being signed to a minor league deal.
