CHICAGO — The Mets insist they aren’t putting the cart before the horse.
A team spokesman blamed a technical snafu for an advertisement that appeared on the club’s official website Wednesday displaying Mets World Series items. According to the spokesman, the advertisement was removed.
An MLB.com official later contacted The Post and took responsibility for the mistake.
“We run the site, we made the mistake and we are embarrassed and apologetic,” the official said.
The Mets and Cubs are scheduled to play Game 4 of the NLCS on Wednesday night at Wrigley Field. The Mets were within a victory of their first pennant since 2000.
