MINNEAPOLIS — The ball is flying against Jason Vargas, but he has still managed to keep his season afloat.
The veteran lefty surrendered two home runs Wednesday — running his total to eight over his past six starts — but limited the damage in the Mets’ 14-4 victory over the Twins at Target Field.
Vargas (4-5) recorded his first win since June 11 against the Yankees, a span of six starts. His ERA barely moved Wednesday, creeping from 4.23 to 4.25 as the Mets consider their options with Vargas heading to the July 31 trade deadline.
