As the buzz continues to circulate around the controversial Jose Reyes reunion along with the monitoring of Yulieski Gourriel, there has been one spot on this Mets squad which has been effectively shored up in the short term. And that happened on May 28 when they acquired James Loney.
Since entering the lineup and now after 22 games, Loney has provided a solid lefty bat in the lineup. He has a hit in 18 of 22 games and is currently at a .305 clip.
His three-run homer on Friday night against Atlanta proved in the end to be vital as the Mets held off a late Braves charge.
