Jacob deGrom could make history Wednesday with a second straight NL Cy Young Award.
The right-hander has a chance to become just the 11th pitcher in MLB history to win consecutive Cy Youngs.
“If you win one, it’s a good accomplishment,” Zack Wheeler said in September. “If you win two, it’s a great accomplishment. But if you win them back-to-back, that is something special. It’s not easy to do, especially these days with it being more hitter-friendly, I feel like. To do that in back-to-back seasons would be pretty special and he should be proud of himself.
