NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Mets pitcher Jacob deGrom has been placed on family medical emergency leave due to “complications” with his newborn son, manager Terry Collins said Saturday.
DeGrom left the team this week to travel to Florida to be with his wife, Stacey, in Florida for the birth of the couple’s first child. Jaxon Anthony was born at 9:23 p.m. Monday, weighing 7 pounds, 12 ounces.
Collins did not provide specifics about Jaxon’s condition, but told reporters it’s a “real life situation.”
“We’re all praying for him,” Collins said.
