Mets pitcher Jacob deGrom is expected to miss the rest of the season because of lingering pain affecting the ulnar nerve in his right elbow, the Mets announced Saturday afternoon before their night game against the Minnesota Twins at Citi Field.
DeGrom was expected to start Sunday after missing his last few starts with what the team labeled right forearm stiffness. He threw about 30 pitches in a bullpen session Friday, after which he felt good, he said. But while shagging fly balls during batting practice, deGrom went to toss a ball back in and felt pain in his arm, causing him to alert the team’s medical staff.
