Whether it be the bullpen blowing a game in the ninth inning or having yet another player get injured, it’s something we experience on a weekly basis. The 2017 season is no different as the Metropolitans severely under-preformed in the first half.
Heading into the 2017 season, the New York Mets were coming off back to back playoff appearances for only the second time in franchise history. With Yoenis Cespedes inking a new deal in the offseason, and a loaded pitching staff, the expectation was that the team would contend for another postseason berth, and possibly the third World Series championship in Mets history.
