The Mets are “showing strong interest” in right-handed pitcher Lucas Giolito, per a report from Mike Puma of the Post. The 29-year-old had a 4.88 ERA and a 5.27 FIP in 184.1 innings with the White Sox, Guardians, and Angels in 2023.
Puma’s reporting aligns with the report from Will Sammon in The Athletic earlier this month in saying that the Mets are not expected to entertain high-end free agent options after losing out on Yoshinobu Yamamoto.
In 2022, Giolito had a 4.90 ERA and a 4.06 FIP in 161.2 innings, all of which came with the White Sox.
