According to Mike Puma of the NewYork Post, the Mets have been talking with Justin Turner’s representatives about a potential reunion. Turner, a Met from 2010-2013, achieved far greater success after leaving Queens, specifically in his nine years as a member of the Dodgers. Turner played for the Red Sox in 2023, putting up 2.1 bWAR mostly as a designated hitter, but also logging time at first base, second base, and third base.
The Mets initially decided that they had enough internal options at third base for 2024 between Brett Baty, Mark Vientos, and Ronny Mauricio.
