Travis d’Arnaud was cleared to swing a bat Monday after X-Rays showed the broken bone in his right hand has healed. D’Arnaud was expected to begin with “dry swings.”
“Tomorrow, he’ll probably do some more dry work, then some tee work, if everything is OK there, he'll do some soft tosses so he can get used to the shock of the ball,” Terry Collins said.
Collins said there is no timetable for his return.
The Mets said it would be optimistic for d’Arnaud to play this week, but one team source said they are hopeful he will return against Pittsburgh next week in Flushing.
