WASHINGTON — Michael Cuddyer wants to make a decision “relatively soon” whether to go on the disabled list. The veteran outfielder got a new anti-inflammatory Monday to combat the pain from a bone bruise under his left kneecap and was hoping for quick results.
As expected, Cuddyer was out of the lineup Monday, replaced in left field by John Mayberry Jr. in the Mets’ 7-2 loss to the Nationals. He was available to pinch hit, Terry Collins said, but did not get in. “There was never a spot that came up,” the Mets manager said.
The Mets are considering putting the 36-year old on the DL to allow the bruise time to heal.
