Steven Matz might be pitching for his playoff spot on Thursday.
The Mets' lefty who is dealing with tightness behind his right shoulder blade is tentatively scheduled to throw long-toss on Monday and a bullpen on Tuesday. If he comes through those, he will be sent to Florida to pitch in an Instructional League game on Thursday.
"He'll go Thursday in St Lucie and hopefully throw 90-95 pitches," Mets manager Terry Collins said. "It will all be determined how he comes out of tomorrow and Tuesday."
The Long Island native needed a shot to "relax" the muscle that is causing him discomfort.
