Mets Insider: Plenty of time for both young catchers

Terry Collins said Travis d’Arnaud will go into the season as the Mets’ regular catcher.

“We think Kevin Plawecki is going to be a very, very good catcher, but right now, I think we’ll go into the year with Travis being our lead guy,” the Mets manager said. “Is that five days a week, four days a week? We’ll have to see, I don't know yet. We’ll make those adjustments as we go in. Both guys should get some playing time.”

Plawecki will probably see time at first as a way to get his bat into the lineup, but Wilmer Flores will be the primary backup there, Collins said.
