Daniel Murphy broke out of his slump in decisive fashion on Thursday. Mired at a .140 batting average, the second baseman hammered a three-run double to right field double in the first inning. It was the start of a two-hit, four-RBI day.
"It was nice to get another win - that's the most important part," he said. "It's definitely nice to get a piece of it personally."
To remedy the slump, Murphy tried looking at video and extra batting practice.
"You name it, I've tried it for the last 10 days," he said. And manager Terry Collins even took it upon himself to give him a pep talk.
