MIAMI — The Mets’ lineup received a complete makeover at the trading deadline and soon it could be adding another piece.
David Wright, who has been out since April with lower back pain associated with spinal lumbar stenosis, is closing in on the end of his rehab and nearing minor-league rehab games.
Tuesday Wright began a series of five straight days of on-field workouts, which included hitting, running, throwing and taking ground balls to test his back. If he completes that test in good health — finishing at the Mets’ spring training complex in Port St. Lucie — Wright will be scheduled for minor league rehab games after a Sunday off day.
