The lefty reliever's season is over.
Left-handed reliever Jack Leathersich underwent season-ending Tommy John surgery on Thursday in New York.
The 25-year-old rookie was placed on the disabled list on July 3 after throwing an abnormally high 57 pitches in an outing for Triple-A Las Vegas on June 29. That outing, in which he gave up six runs, four walks, and two home runs in just two innings, was Leathersich's first appearance back in the minors after being optioned down to Triple-A on June 28.
Leathersich made 17 appearances for the Mets this season, throwing 11.
