The Mets announced on Monday that the right hand fracture Travis d’Arnaud suffered on Sunday was to his metacarpal (pinky). D’Arnaud will be in a splint for three weeks, and will then be reexamined.
According to the Mets, if d’Arnaud is healed and the injury is “non-tender” after that three week span, he’ll be able to immediately resume baseball activities.
D’Arnaud, who came out of Sunday’s game after being hit, had an X-ray on Sunday that led to the initial diagnosis.
While speaking with reporters, d’Arnaud said that while the injury is disappointing, he’ll keep his head up and cheer on his teammates while he recovers.
