As the July 31 trade deadline draws closer, there’s a report this morning from Andy Martino of SNY.tv that the Mets are in on Robbie Ray of the Diamondbacks. Martino added that the Mets sent Ruben Amaro Jr. to scout Ray. Arizona has been rumored to be selling despite the fact that they have a winning record and a shot at a Wild Card spot.
The left-handed 27-year-old Ray started his career in the Nationals organization before making his major league debut with the Tigers in 2014.
