Mets hope Yoenis Cespedes resumes workouts on Saturday

NEW YORK -- New York Mets outfielder Yoenis Cespedes received a cortisone injection to address his left shoulder injury, although not precisely when manager Terry Collins originally reported.

Cespedes received the shot on Thursday at the Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhattan. He had departed Game 4 of the National League Championship Series the previous day with what the team labeled soreness.

Cespedes did not participate in Friday’s optional team workout at Citi Field, but is expected to join the team for Saturday’s full-team workout. The Mets will have a better handle then on how the injury is responding.
