WASHINGTON -- The New York Mets worked out Cuban infielder Yulieski Gourriel on Monday at the team's complex in Port St. Lucie, Florida.
General manager Sandy Alderson, special assistant J.P. Ricciardi, international scouting director Chris Becerra, pro scouting director Jim D'Aloia and scout Roy Smith attended the 90-minute workout.
"I haven't really got any details on the workout, but he did work out for us," assistant general manager John Ricco said Monday afternoon in Washington, where the Mets are poised to open a series against the Nationals. "We had a pretty good size group of scouts there to watch him.
