Mets hire Tony DeFrancesco to manage Triple-A Las Vegas 51s

The Mets have hired Tony DeFrancesco to manage the Triple-A Las Vegas 51s, according to Jon Heyman. That news comes shortly after Sandy Alderson’s comments the other day that there would be major changes at the Triple-A level, where Pedro Lopez—a longtime manager in the Mets’ organization who had been consistently promoted up the ranks of the minors—had been managing. There still hasn’t been any official announcement about Lopez’s future, but he’s clearly not managing that team anymore.

DeFrancesco has spent the past several years in the Astros’ orginzation but was let go.
