The Mets are 31-41, having gone 6-20 in their last 26 games, and 14-32 since May 1. They are 11.5 games out of first place in the NL East, and 8.5 games behind the Nationals for the second Wild Card in the NL.
But Mets GM Sandy Alderson isn't ready to say whether the team will be buyers or sellers in advance of the trade deadline.
"I would put us in the middle," Alderson said on Friday, while realistic about what needs to happen to avoid the team being sellers.
"We need some more wins," he said.
