Mets go winless in Seattle

For the third time in as many nights, the Mets lost to the Mariners in Seattle, this time by a 12-1 score. It might have been the team’s worst series of the 2024 season, which is saying something considering how poorly the month of May went.

Through four-and-a-half innings, this was a ballgame. Luis Castillo was dominant against the Mets’ suddenly-dormant lineup, but Luis Severino gave up just one run through his first four innings of work.

But Severino faltered in the bottom of the fifth after Francisco Lindor couldn’t make a tough play with two outs that would have ended the inning without the Mariners scoring.
