NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Mets general manager Sandy Alderson said Tuesday he has undergone surgery related to his cancer.
Speaking to reporters at Citi Field before the Mets-Nationals game, Alderson said the procedure had been planned for months and was “fantastically successful.”
“It was part of an overall strategy that was devised by my doctors early in December,” the 68-year-old said. “The surgery followed a very successful regime of chemotherapy. The surgery itself was, I’m going to say, fantastically successful. The doctors were able to do everything they had hoped to do and were able to avoid everything they hoped to avoid.
