Mets get even late, beat Nationals in extras again

For the second time in as many nights, the Mets took the Nationals to extra innings, scored a bunch of runs, and won. This time, they scored five runs in the tenth and didn’t allow any, making for a relatively stress-free extra frame and a 7-2 victory.

Sean Manaea was very good, but he gave up a run in the third and one more in the fifth as he went seven innings on just 97 pitches. Just one of those runs was unearned, and the Mets’ infield defense had issues with routine plays all night. But Manaea limited the potential damage from most of those misplays and deserves a ton of credit for keeping the team in the game.
