Mets SS prospect Gavin Cecchini received a cortisone injection due to inflammation in his left shoulder, according to Adam Rubin of ESPN New York, who added that Cecchini expects to return to action in roughly one week.
Cecchini dealt with a left shoulder strain during his stint in the Arizona Fall League after the season, causing his time there to end prematurely.
The 22-year-old Cecchini hit .317/.377/.442 with seven home runs, 26 doubles, four triples, and 51 RBIs last season for Double-A Binghamton.
Cecchini is not a member of the Mets’ 40-man roster, but received an invite to major league Spring Training.
