Mets’ Game 2 meltdown exposes huge season-long weakness

LOS ANGELES — Same as it ever was?

General manager Sandy Alderson has built a starting rotation to be admired by all, and a lineup that crystallized to power the Mets to their first postseason appearance in nine years.

And to be fair, the Mets also have a closer in Jeurys Familia whom you would trust as much as much as anyone else still working in that role.

But the bridge from the starters to Familia, the lockdown for that offense, remains as unsteady as Roger Goodell’s grasp of due process.

The Mets head home tied at a game apiece in this National League Division Series, and surely they would have taken that before setting foot here at Dodger Stadium.
