NEW YORK -- The New York Mets plan for left-handed reliever Josh Edgin to return to major league action around May 1, not at the start of the season.
Edgin underwent Tommy John surgery last March 17 and missed the entire 2015 season.
The Mets still are in sound shape in terms of a lefty specialist until Edgin returns. Jerry Blevins re-signed with the Mets on Dec. 15.
Blevins, acquired from the Washington Nationals on the eve of last season for Matt den Dekker, twice suffered a fractured left forearm in 2015, but has since recovered.
