The Mets went into the pitching buzzsaw that is the Mariners and lost a frustratingly quiet offensive game, 6-0.
The Mariners got on the board first when Ryan Bliss swung out of his shoes on a curveball but muscled the ball over the left field wall for a two-run home run. Aside from that blemish, Jose Quintana had a really good start through the first six innings. After walking and hitting a batter in the first, Quintana retired the next 14 batters.
Bryce Miller went just six innings of excellent ball, leaving after 87 pitches. Miller gave up a couple of doubles to Mark Vientos and Brandon Nimmo, but shut down the Mets with a lot of quick outs, while striking out six and walking just one.
