Mets infielder Wilmer Flores will miss the remainder of the season as he recovers from a broken nose, the team announced Thursday.
Flores, 26, fouled a pitch off his nose Saturday in Houston, and X-rays later confirmed it was broken. Flores said he initially lost feeling in that part of his face.
"I didn't feel my nose," Flores told reporters Sunday. "I thought I didn't have a nose. I was just numb."
Flores will end 2017 with a .271/.307/.488 slash line with a career-high 18 home runs and 52 RBIs in 110 games played.
