Mets first-round draft pick Jarred Kelenic said he is excited that New York selected him sixth overall in Monday's MLB draft.
"To hear your name called by such a great organization like New York, it was a blessing," Kelenic said on a conference call Monday night. "I was definitely very emotional. It was a time I got to sit and think about all the hard work that paid off."
Kelenic, a center fielder for Team USA who went to Waukesha High School in Wisconsin, was ranked among the top 10 draft prospects by ESPN's Keith Law, Fangraphs and MLB.
